Third Grade Just Called

Don’t know if you guys know this about me but I take my job seriously (sometimes to seriously). My job has to do with people finding out about eternal life. Each decision that I make, each conversation that I have, each dollar that I spend, each thing that I do could have life or death ramifications.

So, sue me if this offends you but I am tired of the stupid emails about your feelings being hurt or you noticing a flaw in our church. Here is a thought, maybe your the solution to the problem either that or satan sent you to slow us down (you be the judge).  Maybe you should volunteer on that team that didn’t meet your standards or encourage that person that you are complaining about.

This ones free, don’t tell me about the person talking bad about the church, or the pastor, or your family, get a back bone and call them out (the Bible tells us to).

I guess what I am trying to say is that we are not playing church, we are the church and if you are more into drama than seeing people come to know Jesus then please find another place to go.

  1. Daryl,

I understand where you are coming from. Sometimes, not always, it could be constructive to know how people view the church. There may be a root to their responses and sometimes people want you to look at the big picture of how it’s reflecting on your congregation. Sometimes, it can be rude and uncalled for, I agree. If it happens all the time (as this rant may imply), pray about it and see if the way things are working are working the BEST way they can.

Although, sometimes, maybe God is trying to tell you something about change. Whether He is or not, I think Lifepoint does as good a job as they can and people are coming to Jesus each day. Nobody can fault you on that one.

I hope I didn’t offend you are make any more drama for you… have a great week!!

  2. Good stuff man, I’m a lot more apt to listen to someone who is doing and giving than one who sits on the sidelines talking about what’s wrong…

  3. I don’t know you or anything about you but anyone that has spent time in any local church has experienced or has seen what you speak of. I’m sure it gets frustrating for a pastor. Not so sure that delivery will not do more harm than good.
    Peace

  4. Daryl great blog “This ones free, don’t tell me about the person talking bad about the church, or the pastor, or your family, get a back bone and call them out (the Bible tells us to).”

    That’s my boss ya’ll!

  5. “…we are not playing church, we are the church and if you are more into drama than seeing people come to know Jesus then please find another place to go.”

That is one of the best things I’ve read in a long time! The devil is not safe in Wilmington! Love what you guys are doing at Lifepoint!

  6. I’ll admit I used to be one of these people. I could defend myself pretty easily at the time. I’d say the Bride of Christ should be perfect. But Christ never demanded perfection. He demanded a Commandment (which just so happens to be Lifepoint’s mission statement) and a Commission (which is what the Church exists to lead followers towards). When I stopped critiquing every little thing a church did wrong, the voice of God started coming through a lot clearer.

I would say I got your back D, but judging by your last blog that’s not what you wanna hear. I got Pastor Jeff’s back. I’m glad I go to a church that wants the ball, even if it means we get hurt.
